When one door closed, another opened. During a pivotal time in my life, I discovered how my skills, experience, and values could be applied in a new way to continue serving people in my community.

In 2013, I found myself at a crossroads. After nearly a century in business, my family’s company, Samuels Furniture and Interiors, had to close its doors. The 2008 recession hit us hard. My bank of 58 years called in my loan, and I was left with no choice but to close the last store and file for bankruptcy.
My grandfather started our furniture store in 1916. From a young age, I worked summers in the store, where I saw firsthand from my grandfather and father the value in treating people fairly and building trust. We were a credit store in the early days, helping people finance furniture. You’d be surprised how much we got to know about our customers and their lives. We became a respected local name in the Memphis area.

For 40 years, I poured my heart into that business. We grew from a small operation to multiple big-box stores, carrying high-end lines like Thomasville and Drexel. At our peak, we were doing $17 million a year. When the recession forced us to close, I made sure every customer who’d left a deposit got their furniture. The relationships I had with my customers and the trusted name we had built were things I was not willing to compromise on. That sense of responsibility to people and serving my community with integrity is central to our family legacy.
In 2013, at age 62, I found myself needing to find a new line of work. A local REALTOR®, who ironically was also named Harry Samuels, suggested I get into real estate. I figured I couldn’t go wrong taking advice from someone with such a trustworthy name! I dove into the courses, completed 90 hours of coursework in 10 days, and earned my license.
Real estate gave me a way to keep serving, using the skills I’d honed in customer service, problem-solving, and helping people navigate decisions. The only difference was the scale. Instead of helping someone find the perfect piece of furniture, I was helping them find the perfect home.
What helped me stand out early on was the customer-first mindset I brought from decades in the family furniture business. I became known for handling the details others might overlook, coordinating with all parties to ensure everything was done right, and really being there for families as they navigate change. As a lifelong native to the Memphis area, I know its neighborhoods very well. I can guide clients to the right spots based on their lifestyle and goals. My business grew through word of mouth, built on trust and the reassurance that I would handle every aspect of the transaction with care.

Today, my specialty is helping people through major, often emotional, life transitions. Whether it is helping a family downsize after decades in one home, searching for the perfect home, or guiding a family through a sale of an estate, I serve as a go-to resource and boots-on-the-ground representative. I’m here to make it easier and ensure my clients feel supported every step of the way.
My family’s legacy of service and doing right by people is something I’m proud to continue on in real estate. I love what I do and am grateful that amidst one of the greatest challenges of my life, I found a new way to continue serving my community.
I’ve been married to Laurie for 43 years. She is an accomplished interior designer and talented artist. We have two children: Jacob, who is a partner at an investment management firm and now serves as president of the Memphis Jewish Community Center (a role I was proud to take on for several years), and Sophie, an artist who is already making waves in the art world. I’m lucky to have all four of my grandchildren close by too. I enjoy playing golf, walking, and spending as much time as possible with family and friends.
My clients receive a true concierge-level real estate experience. From developing a tailored strategy and managing the transaction to coordinating vendors, overseeing projects, leveraging a trusted network of industry professionals, and resolving unexpected challenges, I ensure every aspect of the process is managed with efficiency, expertise, and care.
For sellers, I develop a strategy tailored to their goals and the unique characteristics of their property. From pricing, staging, and professional photography to targeted marketing, every decision is designed to maximize value and attract the right buyers. For buyers, I provide valuable insights into neighborhoods, helping them find not only the right home but also the community that best fits their lifestyle.
As the transaction moves forward, I oversee every detail, including coordinating showings, managing contracts, negotiating offers, and resolving challenges that may arise during inspections, appraisals, financing, or title work. My proactive approach keeps the process moving smoothly while protecting my clients' interests. I am always looking for ways to make my clients' lives easier, often by coordinating the logistics that extend beyond the transaction itself. Even after closing, I remain a trusted resource, providing guidance, local recommendations, and ongoing support. My goal is simple: to deliver a seamless, stress-free experience from beginning to end.
Sincerely,

Harry D. Samuels
